Feb.28/20

Grandparent Day was a big success!  Thanks to all of those who were able to join us and also to everyone who welcomed other children to join you!

Thank you Jayton, Chase, Caleb and Holden for purchasing books for the class.  We have already read most of them and students are anxious to take them out.  Your kindness is really appreciated.

Fairview's first ever Kindness Parade turned out very well.  We walked to Volker Park where many different classes from Laity View were there cheering us on and also spreading kindness with posters and high fives!  I have asked the students to talk to you at home about kindness and ways you have spread and received kindness.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration is on Monday, March 2.  Students are encouraged to wear Dr. Seuss attire or colours (red, blue or white).

Skating is next week and many students have not yet signed up.y Please do so asap, if we don't have enough drivers by Tuesday we will cancel.  Thanks

Conference sign up is also on the portal.  Please sign up and if these times do not work please let me know and we can make other arrangements.  Thanks

Feb. 21/20

Short but busy week!  On Wednesday we had a fire safety presentation.  All the children brought home some homework that reminds and reviews the importantance of fire safety!  Please go over this with your child.

Our 100 Day was a big success!  We were all impressed by the variety of collections and shirts that were created.  All the students seemed to enjoy our celebration in the gym with the parade, a story, 100 day sing-a-long and then different 100 excercises!

During our forest fun, Div. 9 & 10 had the challenge of finding and putting together this puzzle - 100 different numbered post-its and then organizing it into a 100 chart!

Grandparent Day is on Tuesday, Feb. 25 9:30 in the classroom and then in the multipurpose room for a few presentations.  Everyone is encouraged to invite a grandparent or special family member or friend but don't worry if no one is available as everyone is always willing to share their grandparent!   Please check the portal for complete details.

Pink Kindness Parade is on Wednesday Feb. 26 in the morning.  We will be walking through the neighbourhood with our buddies to spread kindness.  We have made some special posters.  Please try to wear pink or a kindness shirt.

Book Fair will be open in our library next week.   I did not send home Scholastic this month so that we can support our library.

Skating field trip and conference sign up is also up on the portal.  Please sign up asap.

Feb. 12/20

On Tuesday we had our 'Body Science' lesson.  It was very informative and despite the giggles I felt the students learned alot.  Please be sure to talk to your child about what they learned and answer any of their questions.

Thanks to Colton, Aiden, Jayton, Chase for bringing in all the snacks for our valentine's celebration.  These were really appreciated!  The students loved handing out and reading all the valentines they received.

Our 100th Day of School is on Feb. 20th.  This year all primary students are asked to wear 100!  Be creative - 100 of anything!  For example wear 100 hair ties or bracelets, a t-shirt with 100 stickers or pompoms.  We did this a couple years ago and it was fun.  We have a primary parade planned to share all the students creations.  Thanks so much for your support with this project.

Grandparent Day is on Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 9:30.  Grandparents, special aunts or uncles or friends are invited to attend.  If your child doesn't have a grandparent or special someone that is available to attend don't worry as students and grandparents love to share and include another classmate or two!

Feb. 26 is our Kindness 'PINK' Day.  We will have a parade through the neighbourhood at 9:00 a.m.  If you are interested in helping out along the route or just joining our class please let me know.   The more the merrier!

Smencils Sale - everyone should have received an order form for stencils. If you are interested all orders must be in by Feb. 20th.  This is a leadership fund raiser and all proceeds will go towards the library and front foyer improvements.
